Yohan Blake Wins Silver Olympic Medal in 100m in London 2012

Yohan Blake won a Silver Medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in the 100m final.

With a personal best time of 9.75 in his first Olympics, the 22 year old is bringing home a medal to Jamaica on the anniversary of its 50th year of Independence.

Compatriot and training partner Usain Bolt won the gold in the event and broke an Olympic record in 9.63 seconds. According to the Reuters, Blake  said:

“Usain knows what it takes, he is a world beater and he is the fastest man in the world. But I got a medal in my first Olympic games and a lot of that is down to Usain and our coach.”

“Usain Bolt encouraged me,” Blake said. “It was a good race, it was just fun out there. Usain kept me calm in my first Olympics.”

Yohan’s next Olympic appearance will be in the 200m heats later this week.
